Karl is a former senior international media executive, editor, journalist and government party communications strategist. As such, he has advised some of the world’s largest corporations across several jurisdictions. He specialises in delivering beneficial outcomes for clients through the strategic coordination of stakeholder engagement and communications.
Caroline launched Bowlah PR, Asia’s first fintech communications agency, in 2015, after identifying a gap in the market based on her successful career in financial services and communications across Asia and Europe. She remains particularly focused on the transformative potential of fintech, and on the huge regulatory, reputational and communications challenges that the industry must overcome if it is to fulfil its potential. In her new role as Red Flag’s Head of APAC, Caroline is focused on adding value to her existing clients through Red Flag’s international network of experts.
Gavin is the longest-serving president and current executive committee member of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), which represents more than 18,000 publications, 15,000 online sites and in excess of 3,000 companies in more than 120 countries. He is the former CEO of Independent News & Media plc (UK, Ireland, South Africa), former chairman of APN News & Media (Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong) and a former director of Jagran Prakashan – publisher of India’s largest newspaper. He is a founding member of United Europe.
Managing Director, Ireland
Deirdre is Managing Director of Red Flag Ireland. Previously she worked as a Director of Public Affairs, Ministerial adviser and national journalist across government, corporate and NGO spheres In government Deirdre served as Director of Communications for the Department of Education, Special Adviser to the Minister for Education and Skills and Special Adviser to the Minister for Business and Employment. Deirdre has vast experience as a spokesperson for these organisations and Ministers, including during times of crisis.
Emma manages media, political and regulatory engagement for a number of Red Flag clients since joining in 2016 from another EU public affairs and communications agency. She has led major pan-European campaigns in the field of environment, chemical, consumer, agriculture, healthcare, digital and financial services. She has provided strategic advice to a non-profit organisation. Emma previously worked for a policy unit in the European Commission, and for a trade association representing the toy industry.
Head of Red Flag Europe
As head of Red Flag’s Brussels office, Séamus leads national and international political, regulatory and communications campaigns on behalf of Red Flag’s multinational corporate clients, and manages engagement with the European institutions. Before joining Red Flag, Séamus worked as an adviser with a government party, as a public affairs consultant and as communications officer for a representative body. He is responsible for shaping campaign strategy for Red Flag’s clients.
Senior Account Manager
Leena has an extensive background in PR and communications both in Europe and in Asia. Her previous roles at award-winning global agencies in the UK involved managing campaigns for clients such as British Airways, Unilever and Ikea. She has worked across consumer, FMCG, corporate and health sectors, with both a B2B and B2C remit. Along with brand-building and consumer awareness campaigns, she has helped her clients with strategic social media content planning, event management, stakeholder engagement and media relations.
Melanie manages international regulatory campaigns on behalf of European and US clients. She advises clients on regulatory developments, provides strategic media support and facilitates engagement with key stakeholders. Before joining Red Flag, Melanie worked as policy officer in the Secretariat General of the European Commission and as a research associate at an international business association. Melanie holds a B.A. and an M.Sc., both from Trinity College Dublin.
Fintan leads Red Flag’s business development and client acquisition strategy globally. He has more than 20 years of senior executive commercial experience within the media industry and held lead roles in the development of new products and the expansion into new markets for some of Ireland’s largest media brands. Fintan is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland by whom he has been recognised for his work in the area of market research and customer insights.
Astrid has joined Red Flag as an account executive where she will carry out political and media analysis as well as regulatory monitoring. Prior to joining Red Flag, Astrid worked for an initiative on online behavioural advertising, where she managed participating companies’ accounts and worked on policy files concerning advertising and digital challenges. Astrid previously worked for a Brussels-based association representing the interests of small businesses in Europe, covering policy approaches on digital contracts and data protection.
Sir Ivor Roberts
Sir Ivor is one of the most experienced and respected British diplomats. He was Head of Counter Terrorism at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office before being appointed as the UK’s first ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Sir Ivor subsequently served as ambassador to both Ireland and Italy. He is president of Trinity College in Oxford, and was knighted in 2000. He is an experienced negotiator, having worked on Europe’s first Common Agricultural Policy and the release of British soldiers held by Bosnian Serbs in 1995.
Melissa San Miguel
Head of Red Flag USA & Policy
Melissa advises Red Flag and its clients on policy issues and strategic responses. She was previously Senior Director for Global Strategies at the Grocery Manufacturers Association in Washington, DC, where she developed and implemented trade and global competitiveness strategies for the world’s leading food, beverage, and consumer product companies. Prior to joining GMA, Melissa served in the U.S. diplomatic service handling trade policy in Latin America and Asia, most recently as Special Assistant to the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment.
Director of Campaigns
Shane previously worked in a senior regional public affairs role for Diageo, managing tax, trade, regulatory and reputational issues in 21 countries across Asia Pacific. Shane also worked as a policy analyst and communications manager for the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin. Shane manages engagement campaigns for Red Flag across Europe, coordinating with multiple agencies, consultants and stakeholders.
Martin was Betfair’s group director of corporate and legal affairs, and company secretary until 2013. Previously, Martin worked as a partner in a private London law firm, and prior to that he was head of the legal department for Mirror Group Newspapers. Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1988. He is a former interim chief executive at the Association of British Bookmakers. Martin is chief executive at Arena Racing Company.
Account Director (Digital)
Bríd manages Red Flag’s online campaigning and monitoring tool, SemaFORE. Before joining Red Flag, Bríd worked as a strategist and head of digital for Ireland’s largest political party. Bríd works on campaigns for Red Flag’s international client base, alerting, reporting, advising and managing communities on our clients’ behalf.
Garret has more than 20 years’ executive management experience, building content and information businesses in the media, mobile and education arenas. He launched independent.ie Ireland’s largest news website, and was European COO of a major LSE and JSE-listed mobile content information business. Prior to joining Red Flag, Garret conceptualised and co-founded Independent College Dublin.
Paul works on communications, regulatory and government affairs in Red Flag’s Brussels office. Before joining Red Flag, Paul worked as EU legal affairs manager for the European Smoking Tobacco Association. He previously worked for FACE, the European hunters’ lobby, providing strategic regulatory and legal advice and support to national member associations. Paul has also received training in the legal service of the Council of the EU.

As CEO and managing director of French subsidiaries of large public communications groups, Pierre-Louis has developed expertise in communication consulting, and in the use of a wide range of communication tools; public affairs, public relations, marketing and corporate affairs. Pierre-Louis has worked on campaigns and retained accounts with clients in diverse sectors (finance, utilities, industry, construction, healthcare, technology), institutions and communities in France and across the European Union.
Senior Account Executive
Ognjenka works on communications and EU affairs and provides support on communications campaigns for Red Flag clients. Before joining Red Flag, Ognjenka worked in Croatia as a consultant managing strategic communications for clients globally and executing strategies in markets in Europe, Africa and Asia. Ognjenka also has previous experience in working in political campaigns in Croatia, crisis communications, communications management and planning and media relations. She is a former Chevening Scholar and holds an LL.M in European Law from Edinburgh Law School.
Regulatory Futures Manager
Kevin joined Red Flag from Airbus Group, where he worked as a policy analyst in Brussels. He carries out political and media monitoring as well as regulatory engagement on behalf of clients. Kevin supports Red Flag’s client campaigns in the USA and Europe with comprehensive and evidence-based research. Kevin recently carried out a major analysis on the changing role of access and lobbying in EU Affairs.
Senior Account Executive
Conor provides campaign support in EU policy research, communications and political analysis. Prior to joining Red Flag he worked as a researcher in the European Parliament, and has previous experience working on political campaigns in Ireland. He has a B.A. (Gold Medal) from Trinity College Dublin and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
Roxana supports regulatory engagement and communication campaigns for Red Flag’s clients. Before joining, she worked in a Brussels based legal consultancy coordinating compliance assessments in the field of health, financial services, justice and home affairs legislation for the European Commission. Her previous experience includes advising Romanian companies in the agri and fisheries sectors on how to access European Structural funds and the Romanian Embassy to Belgium.
Ronan worked for a large European trade association, as project manager for EU-funded projects, before joining Red Flag. As an Account Director in our Brussels office, he supports clients in achieving their EU public affairs and communications objectives. He has previously worked for a state enterprise agency, helping overseas companies enter the French market.

Sonia works on communications and regulatory affairs. Before joining Red Flag, she worked in public affairs for Volvo Construction Equipment, and for a regional association representing German towns and municipalities. Her working languages are Romanian, German, English, French, Dutch and Japanese.

James carries out political and media monitoring as well as regulatory engagement on behalf of clients. James supports Red Flag’s clients with comprehensive and evidence-based research. Before joining Red Flag, he worked as a researcher in the Irish parliament.
Executive Officer Manager
Mandy is responsible for all aspects of office administration at Red Flag. Prior to joining Red Flag, she worked as personal assistant to three CEOs at Independent News & Media. She has spent her entire career supporting high-profile CEO and international board-level executives, and has extensive experience in event management, office administration and itinerary and diary coordination.
Senior Account Director
Jordan provides strategic communications counsel to clients as part of Red Flag’s U.S. team. Prior to joining he spent seven years at two leading international consultancies in London where he developed a proven track record delivering multi-channel campaigns on behalf of clients ranging from multinationals and trade associations through to emerging startups and investors. His expertise includes media strategy, issues management, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning with extensive experience working within the financial services, technology and manufacturing industries.
John works on digital monitoring, communications and regulatory research across Red Flag clients. He previously worked on policy and campaign strategy for a financial trade association in the UK and produced research on financial technology for a business intelligence firm. John holds an MA in Public Policy from Central European University.
Prior to joining Red Flag, Vicky worked as a local assistant to a Member of the European Parliament providing regulatory monitoring assistance. Vicky previously worked in a management role with a global airline firm supporting the Business Intelligence and Development department. She holds an MSc degree in Management and speaks English, French and Greek.
Ee Ghim Chua
Ghim conceptualises and manages engagement campaigns for Red Flag across APAC. He has strong on-the-ground experience executing campaigns and press activities across key Asian cities. Ghim helps companies to stay competitive and relevant through a blend of reputation management, marketing-communication and digital campaign activities. Prior to joining Red Flag, he has advised and worked with companies across industries including aviation, technology, fintech, asset management, investment banking, private wealth management, payments, among others.
Raphaël Teixeira da Silva
Raphaël provides campaign support in policy research and media engagement for several clients. Prior to joining Red Flag, he worked as an Assistant for a French Member of the European Parliament, working on legislative files and political communication. He also worked at the Permanent Mission of France to the OSCE. He has studied in France and Austria and holds an MSc from Sciences Po Lyon in European affairs.

Michelle carries out comprehensive public affairs and media monitoring on behalf of a number of clients. Michelle also provides support for campaigns for clients both nationally and internationally. Michelle covers topics such as healthcare and agriculture. Prior to joining Red Flag Michelle worked for one of Irelands Political Party’s and has experience in campaigns, policy analysis and social media. Michelle holds an LLM from University College Cork.
Gabriela Meade Díaz
Account Executive (Digital)
Gabriela carries out media monitoring for Irish and international clients using Red Flag’s monitoring tool SemaFORE. She alerts clients to online conversations and contributes to create intelligence reports. Gabriela holds a MA degree on Public Affairs and Political Communication. Before Red Flag, she worked in Mexico in the Finance Department of the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), as an Account Manager in a Digital Marketing Agency providing strategic digital and social media advice to Mexican politicians, including governors of diverse political parties.
Sinead provides support to USA campaigns through policy research, media monitoring, and communications. Sinead comes to Red Flag from Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned a BS. She focuses on providing effective messaging and evidence-based research to support client’s priorities. Prior to Red Flag, she worked in the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the Millennium Challenge Corporation and on communications for a Congressional office.
