Karl is a former senior international media executive, editor, journalist and government party communications strategist. As such, he has advised some of the world’s largest corporations across several jurisdictions. He specialises in delivering beneficial outcomes for clients through the strategic coordination of stakeholder engagement and communications.
Emma manages media, political and regulatory engagement for a number of Red Flag clients since joining in 2016 from another EU public affairs and communications agency. She has led major pan-European campaigns in the field of environment, chemical, consumer, agriculture, healthcare, digital and financial services. She has provided strategic advice to a non-profit organisation. Emma previously worked for a policy unit in the European Commission, and for a trade association representing the toy industry.
Gavin has over 30 years experience in the media, entertainment, and advertising industries. He is longest-serving president and current executive committee member of the the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers. He is former CEO of Independent News and Media plc, ex chairman of APN News and Media and former independent director of Jagran Prakashan. Most recently the global head of The Agency Group, Gavin now serves as a director of a number of private companies at the intersection of technology and content.
Melanie manages international regulatory campaigns on behalf of European and US clients. She advises clients on regulatory developments, provides strategic media support and facilitates engagement with key stakeholders. Before joining Red Flag, Melanie worked as policy officer in the Secretariat General of the European Commission and as a research associate at an international business association. Melanie holds a B.A. and an M.Sc., both from Trinity College Dublin.
Head of Red Flag Europe
As head of Red Flag’s Brussels office, Séamus leads national and international political, regulatory and communications campaigns on behalf of Red Flag’s multinational corporate clients, and manages engagement with the European institutions. Before joining Red Flag, Séamus worked as an adviser with a government party, as a public affairs consultant and as communications officer for a representative body. He is responsible for shaping campaign strategy for Red Flag’s clients.
Account Executive (Digital)
Drawing on extensive experience in advertising, public relations and EU affairs, Bisera works as part of Red Flag’s SemaFORE team, delivering digital monitoring and engagement support for multinational clients. Prior to joining Red Flag, Bisera founded a digital advertising agency, where she led creative strategy for clients and won numerous awards for social advertising. She previously worked with the British Chamber of Commerce in Brussels. Her working languages are English, French, German and her native Macedonian.
Sir Ivor Roberts
Sir Ivor is one of the most experienced and respected British diplomats. He was Head of Counter Terrorism at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office before being appointed as the UK’s first ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Sir Ivor subsequently served as ambassador to both Ireland and Italy. He is president of Trinity College in Oxford, and was knighted in 2000. He is an experienced negotiator, having worked on Europe’s first Common Agricultural Policy and the release of British soldiers held by Bosnian Serbs in 1995.
Head of Red Flag US
John joined Red Flag as Head of the newly-established Red Flag Washington DC office. John joins Red Flag from the American Bankers Association where he was Vice President for International Policy responsible for files including blockchain and payments technology at global and regional level. John previously served as Head of Policy for Coinbase, the world’s largest virtual currency company, and as a senior staffer in the United States Senate.
Director of Campaigns
Shane previously worked in a senior regional public affairs role for Diageo, managing tax, trade, regulatory and reputational issues in 21 countries across Asia Pacific. Shane also worked as a policy analyst and communications manager for the Institute of International and European Affairs in Dublin. Shane manages engagement campaigns for Red Flag across Europe, coordinating with multiple agencies, consultants and stakeholders.
Martin was Betfair’s group director of corporate and legal affairs, and company secretary until 2013. Previously, Martin worked as a partner in a private London law firm, and prior to that he was head of the legal department for Mirror Group Newspapers. Martin qualified as a solicitor in 1988. He is a former interim chief executive at the Association of British Bookmakers. Martin is chief executive at Arena Racing Company.
Account Manager (Digital)
Bríd manages Red Flag’s online campaigning and monitoring tool, SemaFORE. Before joining Red Flag, Bríd worked as a strategist and head of digital for Ireland’s largest political party. Bríd works on campaigns for Red Flag’s international client base, alerting, reporting, advising and managing communities on our clients’ behalf.
Garret has more than 20 years’ executive management experience, building content and information businesses in the media, mobile and education arenas. He launched independent.ie Ireland’s largest news website, and was European COO of a major LSE and JSE-listed mobile content information business. Prior to joining Red Flag, Garret conceptualised and co-founded Independent College Dublin.
Paul works on communications, regulatory and government affairs in Red Flag’s Brussels office. Before joining Red Flag, Paul worked as EU legal affairs manager for the European Smoking Tobacco Association. He previously worked for FACE, the European hunters’ lobby, providing strategic regulatory and legal advice and support to national member associations. Paul has also received training in the legal service of the Council of the EU.
Head of Red Flag France
As CEO and managing director of French subsidiaries of large public communications groups, Pierre-Louis has developed expertise in communication consulting, and in the use of a wide range of communication tools; public affairs, public relations, marketing and corporate affairs. Pierre-Louis has worked on campaigns and retained accounts with clients in diverse sectors (finance, utilities, industry, construction, healthcare, technology), institutions and communities in France and across the European Union.
Quinlan is formerly Head of Content, Europe at Mergemarket Group and a strategic communications consultant with robust experience in competition policy, digital, energy and financial services. He previously worked as in-house adviser on policy and merger communications for securities exchange group Euronext. At Red Flag, Quinlan leads campaigns and stakeholder engagement for a range of clients, working in both English and French.
Regulatory Futures Manager
Kevin joined Red Flag from Airbus Group, where he worked as a policy analyst in Brussels. He carries out political and media monitoring as well as regulatory engagement on behalf of clients. Kevin supports Red Flag’s client campaigns in the USA and Europe with comprehensive and evidence-based research. Kevin recently carried out a major analysis on the changing role of access and lobbing in EU Affairs.
Conor provides campaign support in EU policy research, communications and political analysis. Prior to joining Red Flag he worked as a researcher in the European Parliament, and has previous experience working on political campaigns in Ireland. He has a B.A. (Gold Medal) from Trinity College Dublin and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
Roxana supports regulatory engagement and communication campaigns for Red Flag’s clients. Before joining, she worked in a Brussels based legal consultancy coordinating compliance assessments in the field of health, financial services, justice and home affairs legislation for the European Commission. Her previous experience includes advising Romanian companies in the agri and fisheries sectors on how to access European Structural funds and the Romanian Embassy to Belgium.
Ronan worked for a large European trade association, as project manager for EU-funded projects, before joining Red Flag. As an account manager in our Brussels office, he supports clients in achieving their EU public affairs and communications objectives. He has previously worked for a state enterprise agency, helping overseas companies enter the French market.
Sonia works on communications and regulatory affairs. Before joining Red Flag, she worked in public affairs for Volvo Construction Equipment, and for a regional association representing German towns and municipalities. Her working languages are Romanian, German, English, French, Dutch and Japanese.
James carries out political and media monitoring as well as regulatory engagement on behalf of clients. James supports Red Flag’s clients with comprehensive and evidence-based research. Before joining Red Flag, he worked as a researcher in the Irish parliament.
Executive Officer Manager
Mandy is responsible for all aspects of office administration at Red Flag. Prior to joining Red Flag, she worked as personal assistant to three CEOs at Independent News & Media. She has spent her entire career supporting high-profile CEO and international board-level executives, and has extensive experience in event management, office administration and itinerary and diary coordination.
Head of Business
Fintan leads Red Flag’s business development and client acquisition strategy globally. He has more than 20 years of senior executive commercial experience within the media industry and held lead roles in the development of new products and the expansion into new markets for some of Ireland’s largest media brands. Fintan is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland by whom he has been recognised for his work in the area of market research and customer insights.
Astrid has joined Red Flag as an account executive where she will carry out political and media analysis as well as regulatory monitoring. Prior to joining Red Flag, Astrid worked for an initiative on online behavioural advertising, where she managed participating companies’ accounts and worked on policy files concerning advertising and digital challenges. Astrid previously worked for a Brussels-based association representing the interests of small businesses in Europe, covering policy approaches on digital contracts and data protection.
